We started this blog with the idea of doing a movie every day. But not just a random movie, we had to like it too. Like recommending a movie to your friends. But now we need your help. We need recommendations ourselves. You might think doing a movie ‘worth the popcorn’ every day is not that hard. But when we got into the routine of doing a post every day, we soon found out one day we will run out of movies. Keeping up with the posts, we almost have to watch a movie a day. And if we don’t like it, there’s no post. So this is why I ask you. Which movies are worth your popcorn? I’m asking you, because you have good taste. You are reading this after all. | |

I bought my husband 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Steven Jay Schneider for Christmas. He’s a movie buff and has found at least a dozen movies he hadn’t seen before that were definitely worth watching. With this book, it will take you years to run out of posts.
Here are a few recommendations:
Jet Li’s Fearless
Eastern Promises
Away From Her
How about:
March of the Penguins
Supersize me
La vita e bella
El laberinto del fauno
Lock, stock and two smoking barrels
At my movie club we just watched “A perverts guide to cinema”, by a Lancanian analysts called Keyser Soze…Or something like that. His theories are way, way out there, but its still an interesting documentary for cinema lovers.
Not documentaries, but still interesting:
Street of crocodiles, a short by brothers Quay.
Last Life in the Universe
Actually, the first time I ever visited your blog and saw the list of categories I thought to myself, “Geesh, I wonder how long it will be before he runs out of good movies.”
I’m a big fan of pink popcorn movies, so figured I’d list a few here just in case you don’t have those in here already… which brings up another good point - is there a master archives list by movie title for the one’s you’ve already reviewe? But now I’m off track. Here’s my short list of pink popcorn movies that come to mind:
The Holiday
Step Mom
Dirty Dancing
Two Weeks Notice
The Devil Wears Prada
Overboard
Dead Poet’s Society
To Kill a Mockingbird
Terms of Endearment
The Champ
Kramer vs Kramer
Castaway
Ghost
Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore
The Illusionist
Little Women
Sleepless in Seattle
The Horse Whisperer
Notting Hill
…. Okay I’m exhausted and my mind’s going numb.
Surely you’re familiar with IMDB.com and other sites like it. I’ll bet your local video rental gal loves you too (or netflix loves you).
Hope that helps!

It’s funny you mentioned ‘Supersize Me’ Liz. I was actually going to do that one Wednesday, but decided to do this instead.
Thanks again for all the tips, I will check them all — if I can find them. And if you see anything else worth your time, I’m always looking for more good movies.
well you ppl obviously know more about the english movies more than me ……….just suggesting inclusion of other language movies …. like Trade(2007), The Kite runner(2007)(Farsi and english), Katyn(2007)(polish) or may be Hindi movies
