about the movie

Hud is documenting the going-away party for Rob, when a big bang hits the entire city. Towers are burning, this must be an attack, maybe a terrorist attack. Then all chaos breaks loose and something takes a hold of the city. This is just a tape found in Central Park…

A rollercoaster of thrills. I'm writing this just coming out of the theatre. The whole room was pretty perplexed after the movie ended. Starting slow, Lost writer Drew Goddard soon flips you upside down, from the first bang until the end. I'll admit, there won't be any Oscars for the camera work (probably none at all), but this winter blockbuster is o so worth a big can of... yes, you guessed right, popcorn!

I didn’t really enjoy this movie at all because it was hard to focus because of the camera view. I gave it a 2 out of 5 on my site (www.sizzlingpopcorn.com).

I know what you mean, but it was really only the first couple of minutes that bugged me. Hud was pretty steady with the camera. Not like the vacuum cleaner effect other people with the camera had. Also, you must admit it was fitting for the movie. And I’d say it added a lot to the realism. In my opinion it wasn’t overdone.

I loved it. We’ve seen the style before (Blair Witch) — but this one wasn’t low-budget. It was refreshing to see a big movie with this kind of take, and I think the mystery about the Cloverfield monster, even during and after the movie, just makes it fun.
