Chris and Lisa move into a new neighborhood. They soon meet their new neighbor Abel, who seems to be a little more involved with the people in his street than the others. He’s an LAPD officer and when they get into an argument, things escalate into something much much bigger.
Most people would agree Samuel L. Jackson is a pretty good actor. As long as he isn't in a role that makes him swear every 10 seconds, the best ones I'd say are the evil ones. Like 'Black Snake Moan,' but without the soft side. This seems to be a perfect role for him. Accompanied by Patrick Wilson, who generally has a good eye for the right script and also had some great performances in the past.
I don't know if it's my irritating neighbor or the hyped up trailer, but it got me totally into this movie. As long as director Neil LaBute ('The Wicker Man') doesn't overdo it, this might be one of the better picks after the summer blockbuster rush.
When Susan, Peter, Edmund, and Lucy return to Narnia, they find out hundreds of years have passed and King Miraz has taken over. Now they have to find the exiled Prince Caspian to fight the King, but gladly lion Aslan is there to help them.
I'm sorry for not having a Cinema Saturday for another week, but having a good movie out of the cinema every week turned out to be pretty difficult. I tried 'The Tracey Fragments', which was a little too artsy without much substance. I saw 'The Children of Huang Shi,' which just wasn't written that well and therefore not that interesting. And for the rest, these are just slow weeks for the box office. I'm planning to see 'Street Kings' tomorrow, the word is it's pretty good? So maybe I'll come back on that one next Saturday. But for now, let’s get back to Narnia.
I noticed how the new Narnia isn't getting much attention, or maybe that's just me? But after watching the featurette above, I am quite eager for the next installment. The first Narnia was ok, it entertained, but not much more. With 'Prince Caspian' however, they seem to be going into the 'Lord of the Rings' direction. As if they weren't sure the first time, but their success confirmed their ideas and now they are going all the way.
In a couple of weeks we'll see how it compares to the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potters.
Sid, Manny and Diego are back for the third installment of Ice Age. Not much is known about the plot, so nobody seems to be sure how they got into the time of the dinosaurs. But I still had to share this new trailer, since it just made its way to the web this week — it was shown only before ‘Horton Hears a Who!‘ in theaters earlier.
Ice Age 3 (Dawn of the Dinosaurs) will be fully produced in 3-D. According to IMDB it is in post-production, but we still have to wait until next summer to see it. Yeah, that's a pretty long wait. But releasing a trailer this early, isn't a bad sign I think.
I just hope it's better than Ice Age 2. Almost all of you agreed Ice Age 1 was better than part 2. And while Ice Age is one of my favorite animated movies, Ice Age 2 was just ok in my opinion.
But I'm sure we'll have a new impression when a trailer with Sid and the gang arrives. Around next winter, maybe.
Bully and queen Megan, star athlete Colin, artistic outsider Hannah and nerdy Jake. What do they have in common? They’re all in their last year of high school in Warsaw, Indiana. And they’re all struggling with school and life in general.
Being a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival, Paramount is finally giving American Teen a proper release this summer. It looks like 'A Random MTV Documentary: The Movie', meaning bigger, better and probably a little more professional. Still, it will be a hard sell, since you can see this every other day at home. And it's not like documentaries attract an enormous amount of visitors these days.
From the first reviews however, there seems to be only praise for director Nanette Burstein. Making the 'ordinary' high school life something unique. It seems to be one of those documentaries that captures your attention from the start. And trough all the different characters, deals with all human emotions like Murderball did.
So while this might not be a hit at the box office, it might still be.. yeah, there it is again.. worth the popcorn! And if you are going to see this, you probably like those MTV documentaries too. So in the worst case scenario, you are getting an expensive MTV docu at a big screen with some delicious popcorn. Not the worst night out I can imagine.
And the crowd went wild! Just kidding. This week some new photos found their way to the web (click here for more). But not only that, since we sneaky put up a Wall-e trailer that wasn’t meant to last month, a new official trailer has been posted. You can skip the first half, it’s about the same as the other, but definitely check the second half!
All I can say is, this robot is a real real charmer. Andrew Stanton, the director, got the idea even before Toy Story. And as a million other movies, it got shelved. But when Finding Nemo was done, and he had "achieved the physics of believing you were really under water," it was time for him to do the same in space.
I don't think I've ever been this hyped for a Pixar and I'm sure it'll break some records. And only because we, the people, forgot to turn off a little robot called Wall-e (that's Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) when leaving earth. So we are not that stupid after all?
"Oh jeez. I have to see this now it sounds good. For some reason whenever I heard the movie title, I thought it was that Lindsay Lohan movie and avoi [....]"
