Harry Sanborn just loves dating younger women and the way this is making him feel; charming, irresistible and young. Sometimes a little bit too young… When making love with his 30 years younger girlfriend Marin, he suffers a heart attack. And since they were spending the weekend in her mother’s beach house, he has to stay there and recover from the attack.
When Marin’s mother Erica is taking care of Harry, while Marin herself leaves, they start to like each other. But Harry’s doctor seems to be making a move on Erica as well.
Something’s Gotta Give is an enjoyable romantic comedy. Although the beginning of the movie included more of the comical parts and what followed was more romantical. It starts out quite embarrassing when Erica finds an unknown elderly man in her kitchen. After this meeting there are some other awkward and therefore fun situations, which makes this movie definitely worth watching.
Later we will see how Erica and Harry start to get along. At first, still a bit embarrassed about the situation, but more and more comfortable with each other. I really enjoyed this change in the story. To see how the characters are getting closer. All in all, the balance between comedy and romance was just right for me.
After Mary decides to ask Ted to the prom as her date, Ted starts to develop a major crush on Mary. Unfortunately he gets into a really awkward accident, that involves a painful zipper experience, and therefore isn’t able to take Mary to the prom. Thirteen years later he realizes he still has a crush on Mary and decides to hire a detective to locate her. He wants to know if he still has a chance with her, before he can move on with his life. But it turns out there really is something about Mary. Basiccaly every guy she meets falls for her.
For those of you who haven’t given this movie a chance, hopefully this post will change your mind. The story about a man chasing his high school sweetheart may not be the most original, but the movie itself definitely is. The movie has so many comedic situations which are in fact really humorous. You could actually watch it several times and still laugh at the funny situations. What I liked so much about it, is the fact that it’s not just a sweet comedy. The humour used in this movie makes you laugh at things you would normally perhaps not laugh at. It is not sparing anyone, and for once in a while that is a welcome alternative.
Being totally obsessed with weddings, Jane has already been a bridesmaid for 27 times. Whenever someone’s asking her to be the maid of honour, she just can’t say no. After a night running from one wedding to another, she is picking up her sister, Tess, from the airport. That night Jane has a party from her work and invites Tess over. Once there, Tess meets Jane’s boss George and instantly falls in love with him. Unfortunately, Jane has a crush on him as well. When Tess and George decide to get married, Jane starts wondering… Is she ever going to get married or will she be a bridesmaid forever?
Katherine Heigl, Jane, is really what makes this movie worth the popcorn. She is funny, charming and looking great. Her character is always there for everyone around her. Jane is taking care of every friend’s wedding and doing everything her boss is asking her to do and more. It is nice to see her character develop during the movie. At some point she is standing up for herself and finally doing what is making her happy.
Besides that, the movie has it’s funny moments and gives you the happy feeling people are usually getting from weddings.
A couple of weeks ago I already introduced the Sex and the City movie to all of you. But now it is time for an update, because there is a new trailer and with that some new information about the movie. For those of you who want it to be a complete surprise, I won’t discuss the content. But for those who are as curious as I am, go and watch it below!
The new trailer already answers quite a few questions I was asking in my last post, but is also raising quite a lot of new ones. Is Big or Carrie calling of the wedding, or will they still get married after all? Are Miranda and Steve getting separated? And is Samantha over Smith and back to old habits? Because of these questions, I just can’t wait to finally watch it in the cinema. But for now, some of the old episodes of the tv show will do perfectly well of course.
For more information about the movie, more pictures and some nice facts, check the official website and official blog of “Sex and the City: The Movie” too!
Nick Marshall works as an advertising executive when Darcy McGuire starts working at the same company. She comes in as his new boss and with that, takes over his chance of promotion and his future position. To show Darcy what he and the other advertising executives are made of, they have to come up with an advertising commercial for women.
In order to come up with something original, she advises them “to think as a women”. Nick takes this very literally and while trying a new brand of stockings, he gets in a little accident. The next morning he discovers he is not only able to hear what women are saying, but also what women are thinking.
Personally, I think the best part of this movie is the original setting of it. The idea of a man being able to hear women’s thoughts is in a way a bit scary, but at the same time quite interesting. It definitely brings a lot of amusing moments to the movie. Besides that, Mel Gibson has done a good job playing his part. At first, he acts like a real macho man, who most women didn’t really like too much. But later in the movie he starts to use his new ability not only for himself, but also for the people around him. You watch him develop during the movie, and ending up kind of liking him yourself.
"Sounds like a dandy alright! You're right, it's nice to have a movie you can take the whole family to, and the whole family can enjoy it. We need more [....]"
