about the movie

Because the earth got too dirty for mankind to live in, everybody had to leave — bye people! A bunch of robots had to stay around to clean up the place. However, the plan to save the earth failed miserably and there was only one robot left to fulfill his duties, Wall-e. But during the years, Wall-e developed a personality. And when Eve, a female robot, visits earth, he soon falls in love with her. Only to find out that Eve doesn’t have any feeling, at all.

Wall-e is the new baby of Andrew Stanton, also responsible for Finding Nemo. One of the better Pixar/Disney collaborations if you ask me. The most recent trailer, featuring Eve for the first time, shows an even more promising Wall-e than before. Not to mention the stunning visuals we saw in the earlier trailers. And going by their track record, I'd say it's safe to say we can get ready for another entertaining and funny movie, with a very big heart.

Release date: June 27, 2008

Let me first tell you, I'm not the musical movie type. And you shouldn't be put off by this either. On the other hand, if you are a fan of those movies, I wouldn't be sure this is your cup of tea either. It's a very gritty alternative to the Moulin Rouges and Fames. It is as if they made it this way purposely, not to fall in this category.

The story is one about the blindness of vengeance. And the tempo is very good, unlike some musicals that go into the same main chores over and over. Johnny Depp and Helena Carter give an especially great performance, combined with the always original Tim Burton.

The funny thing is, I'm not a Burton fan either. I liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but that's about it. Somehow, this movie seems less naive than the others, probably due to the unique script. Anyway, movies are for watching. And now I'm getting to the point that I'm wasting your time and you could be watching already. So go!

When I first heard about this movie, I didn’t expect too much from it. The story itself isn’t too brilliant. I mean what are the odds that two persons who have pretty much the same bet, will meet each other? But as a real chick-flick movie lover, I put my preconception aside and watched and…… totally loved it! Kate Hudson has done a real good job performing the crazy girlfriend who does everything wrong. A girlfriend like that is seriously your worst nightmare. The chemistry between Kate and Matthew is just perfect. Their performances were what made this movie rise above the mediocre.

Personally, I watched this movie about 3 times already and while writing this post, I am already planning my next popcorn night with this movie!

Taking a break from all the Hollywood fanfare, Ang Lee is back in his homeland to bring us another intense drama. Through the eyes of a young woman, he shows us nothing can be done without feelings. You can be the best actress around, but if you go in too deep, you will get sucked in. Setting this story during the Japanese occupation in WWII must have been a brave choice too. While he could have easily chosen a Hollywood blockbuster instead.

During the movie Ang Lee masterly skates on the line of friendship, sacrifice, betrayal and lust. Not only displayed flawlessly by actress Wei Tang, but even more so by actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai (2046). The only downside to this is, that the story needs a good hour to really develop. So take something to read with you if you're not up to that.

I was kidding. You should really not do that...

cocaine cowboys

about the movie

Cocaine Cowboys shows us the invasion of the Colombian drugs cartel in Miami. Transforming the scene with all their violence and different tactics. The story is told by the people that lived it and have or might still be paying their dues. They tell us how they changed Miami into the drugs and murder capital of the US.

Drug money, if this is a fascinating subject to you, there's no question you will like this documentary. In some ways, the story is brought in a pop cultural way, in the atmosphere of the 80's Miami. But the movie never judges. And doesn't give an opinion about the man that almost grinningly tells us how he used to cap people -- now living his glorious life in prison.

The director gives a real impression of what these times must have been like. Showing how a big part of Miami's skyline was build with drug money. And with much success, since he is getting ready to release his next film: Cocaine Cowboys II.
